About Clan Colquhoun
The Colquhouns originated at Old Kilpatrick on the River Clyde, where their castle of Dunglass stood. The chiefs became lairds of Luss on Loch Lomond through a marriage in about 1368. The family's association with Luss began around 1368, when Sir Robert Colquhoun married the heiress of the Laird of Luss, remembered only as the 'Fair Maid of Luss,' and the chiefly title has carried the Luss name ever since
